Jets Build Big Lead; Top Steelers 20-13 For Second Win of Season

Pittsburgh Steelers v New York Jets

Playing inspired football for what seems the first time in awhile, the Jets used a 17-point first quarter, and the defense shut down the Steelers most of the day in a 20-13 win to move to 2-8 on the year.

Up 3-0 Michael Vick hit WR T.J. Graham with a 67-yard TD to make it 10-0 in the first quarter, and then the team got a key turnover, picking up a muffed punt by Steelers WR Antonio Brown.

Vick then hit TE Jace Amaro with a 5-yard TD to build a 17-0 lead with less than a minute to play in the opening quarter.

The Jets run game dominated a Steelers defense that had played better, as they rushed for 150 yards on the day, putting up 4.2 yards per carry.

Chris Ivory ran for 51 yards, and Vick ran for 39 yards and a couple key plays that kept drives alive.

The defense and special teams forced four Steelers turnovers, with Brown putting two on the ground, and the D forcing two picks from Ben Roethlisberger.

Vick was 10-for-18 for 132 yards with two touchdowns, and he didn’t make any big mistakes, not turning the ball over once for the Jets.

The Jets held Le’Veon Bell to just 36 yards on the ground as the run game was just not there for the Steelers, going for just 36 yards on 17 carries, the lowest rushing totals since last season.

Roethlisberger went 30-for-43 for 343 yards with a touchdown and two picks. He was sacked twice and ended with a QB rating of 81.8.

The victor for New York puts them at 2-8 on the season, and for at least the moment takes the heat off Rex Ryan and the staff after a huge win over a team many felt are a playoff contender.
