Jets Place WR Greg Salas On IR

The Jets on Thursday placed backup wide receiver Greg Salas on injured reserve, ending his season, Darryl Slater of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.

He sustained a hamstring injury in Monday night’s loss to Miami, during which he also scored a 20-yard touchdown on a jet sweep run, while the Dolphins had just 10 defenders on the field.

The Jets promoted practice squad receiver Chris Owusu to the active roster to take Salas’s place.

Jets coach Rex Ryan said Tuesday and Wednesday that Salas had sustained a significant hamstring injury. On Thursday, he termed it “major.” Later Thursday, Salas was placed on IR.
