Jets Planning On Giving New RB Forte Lots of Rest During the Season

Matt Forte

The New York Post reports that the Jets plan to give veteran running back Matt Forte “plenty of rest” throughout the 2016 season.

All signs point to the Jets using a “time-share system” at running back with Bilal Powell and Khiry Robinson expected to see plenty of touches.

Obviously the 30-year-old Forte is considered the No.1 in that scenario considering the Jets signed him to a lucrative free agent deal this offseason after his eight stellar years with the Chicago Bears.

But Forte’s dreams of being an every-down back once again appear destined to be dashed, primarily due to his age and the amount of tread left on his legs. Fantasy football players are currently drafting Forte as a top-15 back but there is a good chance his stats will disappoint at that price in 2016.
