The Jets have claimed troubled tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins on waivers, Daryl Slater of the Newark Star Ledger reports.
Tampa Bay drafted him in Round 2 in 2014, but he has disappointed to date. Immediately after he was arrested for DUI on Friday, Tampa Bay waived him.
It wasn’t his first DUI arrest. While in college at the University of Washington, he was suspended one game during the 2013 season, due to a DUI arrest. Seferian-Jenkins was sentenced to one day in jail for that arrest.
Seferian-Jenkins still faces potential NFL discipline for his latest DUI arrest. It wasn’t his first misstep in the NFL. The Buccaneers’ coaches tossed him out of an organized team activities practice this spring because he wasn’t prepared.
But Seferian-Jenkins, who turns 24 on Thursday, is a young player with potential as a pass catcher.
