Jets Move QB Sam Darnold to the Carolina Panthers for Draft Picks

The deal that has been talked about for months finally took place on Monday, as the Jets moved quarterback Sam Darnold to the Carolina Panthers.

The return loot for Darnold is a 2021 sixth-round pick and second- and fourth-round picks in 2022, according to reports.

Over three seasons as the team’s starting QB, Darnold amassed a mark of 13-25 under center. He also never threw more than 19 scores in a season, that coming two years back when the Jets went 7-6 with Darnold as their starter.

“I want to publicly acknowledge the commitment, dedication, and professionalism Sam displayed while with the Jets,” Jets GM Joe Douglas said.

“He is a tough-minded, talented football player whose NFL story has not been written yet.

“While all these things are true, this move is in the short- and long-term best interests for both this team and him.

“We thank Sam for all of his work on behalf of this organization and wish him well as he continues his career.”

With Darnold gone, look for a LOT of reports of phone calls and zooms with the Jets to try and get them a quarterback prior to the 2021 draft.
