Some tidbits of information about Gan Green.

  • Mark Sanchez will wear a brace on his surgically repaired left knee this season and most likely for the remainder of his career. Rex made the call after a Panther came dangerously close to Sanchez’s knee during last weeks preseason game. “(Sanchez) couldn’t step up (because) the guy’s helmet was there,” Ryan said. “I was like, ‘That’s enough.’ That’s why he’s putting it on.”
  • Don’t worry Jets fan about Tony Richardson being cut. Despite  all the speculation that he may be on the chopping block, due to the emergence of rookie John Connor, Rex effectively put down that talk . “I would be shocked if those two aren’t on the opening day roster,” Ryan said.
  • Nick Folk now has a stranglehold on the kicking job thanks to a great performance in the Jets preseason win over Carolina. Folk was the Jets only source of points, hitting all three of his attempts. Folk connected from 43, 36, and 49 yards. Hopefully, Folk continues this into the regular season and he can get back to his Pro Bowl form.
  • Another position battle seems all but over and that’s the left guard battle. Matt Slauson has taken all the first team reps in the preseason and is consistently playing ahead of Vlad Ducasse in practice. Slauson was the underdog at the beginning of camp, but prevailed in the end. What we  don’t know is if Slauson won the battle because of his talent or because of Ducasse’s struggles. If the team views Slauson as the long term solution at left guard, then they may start to give Ducasse reps at right tackle, to groom him to become Damien Woody’s eventual replacement.
