The folks over at ESPN Stats and Information have uncovered some interesting statistics that could be vital when the Jets take on the Ravens this Monday Night.
Richi Cimini posted these over at his Jets blog at ESPN New York, but I figured I’d post them for you guys to see for yourself.
1. Ray Rice and the HB Draw Play
The Jets led the league last year defending the draw allowing on 1 first down and 2.9 yards per carry. Ray Rice was used on draws often last season and was very effective.
Here are Ray rice’s number son draws last year relative to the entire NFL:
Rushes: 33 (T-6th league)
Yards Per Rush: 6.4 (2nd)
Touchdowns: 2 (T-1st)
First Downs: 10 (3rd)
2. Joe Flacco vs. Blitz (5+ pass rushers)
The Jets blitzed the second most times in the league, but as the stats will show Flacco wasn’t fazed by the blitz last year. Granted, he didn’t see the Jets “organized chaos,” but still he was impressive nevertheless.
Here are Flacco’s numbers compared to the NFL average.
Completion %: 60.3 (56.4)
Passer Rating: 98.7 (81.0)
TD Per INT: 3.7 (1.5)
