Kris Jenkins Coming Back For the 2011 Season

I wrote that week that Kris Jenkins was attempting to comeback from his third torn ACL and this week he announced he will indeed return for the 2011 season.

“I’ve made a decision. I’m coming back. I have to. You know why? It’s my choice. I choose to. I don’t need any more money. I don’t need anyone’s approval. I still want to leave my mark.”

… But in the latest operation, a couple of things lifted Jenkins’s spirits. The first was that doctors discovered less meniscus damage than originally expected. The second was that instead of using a part of his hamstring, as in previous operations, they used the patella tendon in his left knee.

On Thursday, Jenkins said the knee felt stronger at this point than last time. He also said that he will wear a brace this time, which strangely — because of stubbornness, he said — he refused to do after last season’s knee injury.

The question now become whether Jenkins will return to the Jets in 2011? He is due $4.9. million next season and it seems unlikely the Jets will bring him back at that price. Jenkins could restructure his deal though.

I’ll ask you guys: Do you want to see Kris Jenkins on the Jets in 2011?

  1. Eric says:

OF COURSE. You can’t draft players at this position, you just don’t know what you are really getting, other proven players are expensive or impossible to find, and converting 4-3 tackles is problematic (Haynesworth). And that does not even consider his value in the locker room, and how much he is a face of the team. I’m now sure he can come back, but if he can he should definitely be a Jet.
