On Tuesday, the Jets signed WR Santonio Holmes to a 5 year $50 million contract with $24 million guaranteed.
The move has been praised by some, but scrutinized by others. The haters are saying the Jets overpaid for Holmes. I’ve even heard some say he isn’t a top 10 WR in the league.
I have to come to the defense of Santonio. While the contract is a lot, it’s on par with the likes of Miles Austin, Sidney Rice, and Brandon Marshall. While his stats might not be jaw-dropping, remember he plays in a run first offense and had a second year quarterback throwing to him last year.
