Season Falling Apart for the Jets Following Latest Setback

By John Touhey

I don’t think there are words that can be put in a sentence that would describe how bad the Jets were on Sunday. The 49ers not only came to play, they came and made a statement, a New York sized statement.

The Jets are a team that has no identity, ground and pound has equated into the 24th best rushing attack in the league. Shonn Greene is averaging 2.8 yards per carry, which allows teams to put 7 or 8 in the box and pressure Mark Sanchez into making poor decisions as shown by his 103 yards passing and 2.8 QBR.

Rex Ryan must also address the fact that his “best defense” has been letting running back run through his D like swiss cheese. It seems as each week goes by the Jets have more and more problems that they just don’t have the answers to. Santonio Holmes, a player who was basically the only threat a defense had to worry about, will be sidelined for quite some time. (Time to call up T.O.?)

But the biggest issue is the play at quarterback. Sanchez does not seem to be improving and the season saver Tim Tebow is on the sideline waiting for his number to be called.

Unless Sanchez wants to lose his starting job he is going to have to take charge of this team and carry it despite the adversity gang green faces.

The next few games aren’t cake walks either, Houston on Monday Night Football, Colts, and Miami. The fact that the Jets are home for those games do indeed help their cause but a major change needs to be made or we could be looking at a new head coach for the 2013 season.
